About Our Sea Glass Jewelry

Our passion for sea glass began over 10 years ago, when we first discovered our very first piece of sea glass lying in the sand on a local Maine beach. As they say, the rest is history. Shortly after finding our first gift from the sea, we began sea glass mobiles that we eventually sold in several retail locations in Maine and surrounding New England areas. As our obsession with sea glass kept expanding we found ourselves on the beach searching for these treasures every available moment we had. We received so many requests for other jewelry creations that we decided to start creating several different sea glass jewelry designs, which soon found themselves displayed in several galleries. This later evolved into a successful website which is now going on its 4th year.

All of our sea glass (beach glass) jewelry creations are made with authentic genuine sea glass tumbled by the ocean and delivered to us in its natural form. Each design is created as a one of a kind treasure from the sea for you to cherish for years to come. Our sea glass jewelry is professionally designed using only the finest sterling silver elements. Due to a high volume of customer requests, we have recently added gold filled sea glass jewelry designs to our website. You will find in many of our creations, embellishments which perfectly compliment our pieces such as, freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals, turquoise beads, semi-precious gemstone beads and handmade recycled Ghana glass beads. Each piece of sea glass is carefully hand selected to ensure that we are using only Grade A jewelry quality pieces for our designs.

Whether you are looking for a unique handcrafted sea glass bracelet or sea glass necklace for yourself or as a gift, you can be certain that you are purchasing a quality design with outstanding craftsmanship. We take great pride in our jewelry designs and hope you enjoy visiting our website.

“A Truly Beautiful Piece of Art. Just received my one of a kind sea glass bracelet, words will never explain how beautiful my bracelet is. Packaging was one of a kind. How ironic, you truly brought tears to my eyes when I opened the package. A million thank you’s seems very inadequate. Forever grateful.”  Jean of Ohio

Questions You May Have About Our Sea Glass Jewelry:

Q: What Is Sterling Silver Jewelry Made Of?

A: Sterling Silver consists of 92.5% silver and 7.5% of another alloy metal, which typically consists of copper. This increases the hardness and strength of the metal, since pure silver is naturally too soft. Sterling Silver Jewelry will last you a lifetime. We use Bali Sterling Silver which has a sterling silver content of 0.925. We also use Hill Tribe Sterling Silver which has even a higher quality at 95-99% sterling. It is a high purity silver. Most of our designs incorporate both types of these beads. All of our sterling silver beads are chosen carefully from reputable dealers.

Q: What Is Gold Filled Jewelry Made Of?

A: Gold Filled is made from solid gold and filled with a layer of 10k or more which is precisely bonded under pressure and heat to another base metal and then rolled to a desired thickness.

Gold Filled jewelry should last you a lifetime and the gold layer will not wear off since its outer layer is solid gold. By industry standards the gold karat must weigh 1/20th of the total weight for it to be stamped gold filled.

Q: What is the best way to care for my new sea glass jewelry?

A: See our Sea Glass Jewelry Care section of our website for great tips on caring for your new purchase.

Q: Can I change the size of a sea glass bracelet you have for your sale in the sea glass jewelry gallery?

A: Yes, we offer free complimentary custom sizing prior to your shipment, at no additional charge. Please contact us with your request.

Q: How do I know what size I wear for a sea glass bracelet?

A: As a rule of thumb, I suggest that you measure a bracelet that you are comfortable wearing, from one end of the clasp to the other. This will give you an approximate size. Ultimately, you want to be able to fit no more than one finger between the sea glass bracelet and your wrist, or it will be too loose. We do not suggest measuring your wrist with a flexible tape measure, as this will not provide you with an accurate size for wearing jewelry.

Q: Do you sell sea glass pendants?

A: We do not sell sea glass pendants separately. All of our sea glass pendants are designed on a sterling silver chain necklace.

Q: I am buying a sea glass bracelet as a gift, how will I know what size to get?

A: Feel free to contact us, so that we may provide you some help with this question. We typically will ask you the height and weight of the recipient to give us an idea of what size would be the best fit. The average sea glass bracelet size is between 7 1/4" and 7 1/2".

Q: Do you make seaglass jewelry for children?

A: Yes, we design sea glass jewelry for children, upon special request. We have custom designed several pieces for customers and welcome any orders that you may have. Simply contact us by email or phone with your request.

Q: Do you make seaglass jewelry in gold?

A: Due to the economy and rising cost of gold, we do not design any sea glass jewelry in gold, however, we will be introducing some new sea glass designs using gold filled metal.

Q: What size sterling chain should I pick for my sea glass necklace?

A: We offer two sizes of sterling silver chain necklaces, 16" and 18". A 16" will hang closer to your neck and may be better suited for smaller framed individuals. An 18" will hang mid-chest and is suitable for most customers. The 18" is our most popular. You may also request a 20" if needed and we can certainly obtain that for you.

Q: What is your favorite color sea glass to use in your sea glass jewelry designs?

A: We do not really have a favorite color of sea glass, as we love designing with all different arrays of beach glass colors that the ocean has to offer. There are so many great combinations of sea glass colors to work with along with the semi-precious beads, freshwater pearls and swarovski crystals that the combinations are endless. We try to offer a vast selection of the most popular colors such as aqua blue sea glass, teal sea glass, blue sea glass, red sea glass, gray sea glass and amber sea glass. We then will sit for hours trying different designs in several different combinations to see what works best with what.

Q: What inspires you to create your sea glass jewelry designs?

A: Our inspiration comes from the love of the sea. Avid beachcombers and beach lovers, we love to work with this natural gift that that the ocean has provided us with. There is something magical about holding a sea glass nugget in your hand. You can't help but wonder how old is this sea glass? Where did this particular piece of beach glass come from? How long has the seaglass been tumbling in the ocean for? There are so many mysteries surrounding each nugget, designing jewelry with sea glass has become our passion.

Q: How long have you been making sea glass jewelry for and how did it begin?

A: We discovered sea glass about 10 years ago while strolling on a beach in Maine and then started beachcombing for these gems anywhere we could. It became an obsession and it still continues. We have collected glass around the country and have a vast collection both for our sea glass jewelry and our own collection which we display throughout our gallery and home. We began designing sea glass mobiles which we sold in local galleries and shops around Coastal Maine. We then transformed our passion for sea glass into jewelry design. We have spent warm summer days collecting beach glass and very cold winter days as well, bundled in fleece clothing. We find seaglass is best collected here in Maine in in the winter months, when the seas are rough and the tides unpredictable. There are less beachcombers and the ocean provides an array of treasures which are deposited on the sand, with very few people their to collect it. Most of our prized sea glass gems have been discovered in the winter months, around the rocky cliffs, buried under pebbles, boulders and debris. Although, it is not too difficult to just walk along the high tide markings to discover sea glass just waiting to be picked up. There are days when you can't stand up straight for picking up some many gems and then there are other days when there is not a piece of beach glass to be found.

Q: Do you sell your sea glass to other sea glass jewelers?

A: No, we do not sell any bulk sea glass at this time.

Q: Will you design sea glass jewelry using my own sea glass?

A: Yes, we receive several custom sea glass jewelry requests from our customers asking to use their own sea glass as it has sentimental value. Just email us with your request. We will then ask you to submit a few pictures to us of your seaglass so that we can review it to make sure that it meets the requirements to be drilled. There is always a small risk of breakage during the drilling process and we would want to make sure there are no obvious stress cracks in the glass. Additionally, the pieces should be well processed by the sea and have no sharp edges as you would not want to cut yourself while wearing the jewelry.

Q: Will sea glass break if I drop it?

A: Yes, it most certainly has a chance of breaking as after at all, it is glass. If sea glass were dropped on a hard surface such as ceramic or cement surfaces, the possibility of breakage may occur. Take extra care when you are putting your sea glass jewelry on and equally the same, when removing it.

Q: Do you sell your jewelry in retail locations?

A: We do not see our jewelry in retail locations as we are a small family owned business and have concentrated our efforts on our website so that we may offer you an extensive collection of our work.
